Location! Location! Location!

With the summer rapidly approaching, a location has to be decided for our 2011 family reunion.  My suggestion is to keep cost reasonable. This is our first reunion in quite sometime and I don't want money to prevent participation.  It may be in our best intersest to have a more "upscale" reunion for the next one. I recommend the Baltimore Harbor in Baltimore. We can tour the African Amercian Museum, maybe go on a brunch cruise, go bowling, attend church and use the meeting room of the hotel we are staying in for our family workshops. We can do something similar in VA as well.

Please keep your suggestions circulating as well.

  1. Hello family, I would like to recommend having the reunion in Hampton at the Embassy Suite near the Coliseum where breakfast is included in our room rate, have events for the kids ie blue bird gap farm, board games, karoke, & for those 8 & up the gamerbus (gamerbus.com). Adult workshops & networking as well as games. There is also a new Peninsula town center, near the hotel with a nice bowling alley. Sandy Bottom Nature Park offers a picnic area, trail & paddle boats just to name a few of the activities.

  2. Hello family, just spoke with the event planner at Embassy Suites in Hampton. The rooms are $159 a night and includes breakfast. The hotel has a indoor pool, fitness center, day spa & open bar from 5p-7p. The convention center is next door, where we can meet, greet & eat. That price depends on how many people will be coming. I'm setting the date for july 22-24. Get back with me to let me know who will be intersted in doing a workshop and kid event, we need volunteers.

  6. hello family, so far 19 members of the family confirmed that they will be coming to the reunion. I'm projecting about a 100. Does anyone have a karoake machine? I would like to suggest that individual families show off their talents. What about the Wood Idol? Think about it & get back to me.
